Slice of Hope 2014

We are proud to be a part of a wonderful annual event called Slice of Hope, and this year it lands on Friday, October 10th! Dominick’s Pizza & Pasta pledges to donate 10% of our sales for the day to the Karen Mullen Breast Cancer Foundation. In addition to our pledge, we will also have tshirts for sale, all the profits from our tshirts will also be donated to a great foundation.

According to Pizza Today Magazine,  last year over $142,000.00 was raised nationwide through the Slice of Hope event for passionate pizzerias. This was their standings for 2013.

“Taking 100% of the money raised from Slice of Hope, endthisdisease.org and the Karen Mullen Breast Cancer Foundation have funded the following studies:

→ $25,000 to The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute – With this gift, you are helping us honor someone very dear to us that we lost this past year to breast cancer. Our former board member, and friend, Jodi Aufdencamp was treated here and would have been touched to see us fund this study that will help other women in her home state to live longer, healthier lives with breast cancer. This study is lead by Dr. Ramaswamy, who has identified two new targets in triple negative breast cancers that, when targeted, appear to kill the cancer cells.

→ $35,000 to The University of Miami – Your dollars are funding the innovative work of Stefan Glück, M.D., Ph.D. as he strives to make a new treatment option, never before a viable therapy for this sub-type of cancer, available to women with triple negative breast cancer.

→ $65,000 to UW Medicine – This grant shows that you offer lasting support. Slice of Hope funded the initial phase of this study last year and has made this grant so that researchers can move it to a phase 2 study, continuing to look at the effects of PARP inhibitors on triple negative breast cancer.

And this is only the beginning. endthisdisease.org and the Karen Mullen Breast Cancer Foundation are currently vetting more research studies to fund with the proceeds from Slice of Hope. We’ll keep you informed of new studies we grant to and the progress they have – keep an eye on our website and Facebook page for updates.”

If you would like to be part of our event, join us October 10th & keep an eye out for our “special edition” pink shirts!!
